Russian antitrust hopes for amicable deal with Google by Aug 16
MOSCOW, Jul 8 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service hopes to conclude an amicable agreement with Google prior to a court hearing on August 16, or sue, Director Igor Artemyev told reporters Friday.
“We are holding talks on the matter. If we can do it – and we are striving to reach it – we will come to terms,” Artemyev said.
The antimonopoly service’s Deputy Director Alexei Dotsenko said on Tuesday the watchdog had started discussing chances of an amicable agreement with Google, found guilty of abusing its dominant position on the market of preinstalled application stores.
The service earlier delayed consideration of a size of the fine for Google, which contested the service’s decision, but the court dismissed the move. The U.S. company filed an appeal, whose consideration was delayed until August 16.
“So, we will come to court either with an amicable agreement or will sue them to the end,” Artemyev said.
